my teacher gave me 2 pages of homework on Melodic and Harmonic Intervals and told me to do the next 2 pages of Revision if only i have the time to and so i did everything just now.
Intervals have to be the easiest, at least the Intervals that im learning now. i was trying to identity them without counting. i am basically, severely, mentally disabled at Math or anything to do with numbers. even the simplest equations, i need more time to think it through and get my answer. it does get in the way of me learning music theory but its not that bad. theres more memorizing than anything else.
speaking of which, i will be taking my ABRSM(Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) Grade 2 exams in September. the exam fee is $180. acceptable except the fact that if you fail and have to retake, thats double the amount. my teacher told me most of the fee goes to flying the invigilator from England. sounds pretty intense.
i am lucky to have a teacher who plays the piano as well or else i would have to pay and get a pianist to play an opening piece for me during the exam. and im also very lucky that my teacher covers everything included in the exams like Sight-Reading and Aural Test or else i would also have to pay a teacher to teach me those.
so basically, whats tested in the exams are Scales and Arpeggios, 3 pieces of music, Sight-Reading, Aural and Theory. whats scary is the unknown, like given a piece of music on the spot and playing it after given 30 seconds to look at it.
okay, i dont wanna think about it now. freaking me out. one step at a time. its a lot of work and practice but,
Grade 2, you are mine!
